Body Piercing Course

COURSE CURRICULUM


Students enrolling on the course can expect to receive instruction in a working environment, being taught correct methods of hygiene, safety, procedures and performance over a period of 6 days. There is also an extended course running for a total of 11 days, starting on Mondays, having Sunday off and continuing the second week until Friday, which will have modules covering in-depth First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Small Business Management. Further Body Piercing Practice will also be available during this period according to the following curriculum:

The following curriculum contains most of the things that will be covered on the course but may not necessarily be in the order stated. Trainees will be given a ring binder for their own notes and handouts but need to bring along a writing pad, pens and pencils etc.

   1. Clinic Requirements to Environmental Health Standards

   2. Clinic and Equipment Hygiene and Sterilisation

   3. The professional use of all equipment

   4. The use of other medical materials

   5. General Safety at Work including Bloodborne Pathogens

   6. Body Piercing Placements eg Names and Positions

   7. Correct Measurements of placements

   8. Correct measurements of jewellery for each piercing

   9. Suitable Types and Grades of jewellery

 10. The suitability of metals for body jewellery

 11. Customer Care and Health Records

 12. Body Piercing Aftercare

 13. Minor Emergencies and how to deal with them

 14. Possible problems. The advice to give eg allergies and rejections

 15. Observation of piercings performed on clients

 16. Body Piercing Instruction on clients

 17. **Bloodborne Pathogens Module with inhouse Certificate of Completion

 18. **Small Business Management. Starting your own business

 19. **First Aid Module

 20. Assessment of practical ability

 21. Theory Test

Courses run the first week of each month. The eleven day course continues on from the first with Sunday off. Please contact us for available dates.

Trainees will have the use of all equipment in a 'live' clinical environment during their stay with us.

Trainees are required to keep a record of the piercings they have learned and a record of all the piercings they have performed.

A Pass Diploma will be awarded at the end of the course, subject to satisfactory knowledge being gained enabling an attainment of 80% or over on the theory test and the assessment of practical ability. Passing the course is not automatic, but those who are successful are entitled to become an Associate Member of the British Body Piercing Association and after one year, can become full members.

The Diploma is a personal merit at the time of issue and will not apply to any other person. It does not apply to the studio/clinic where the person may be employed. It qualifies the person and NOT the premises.

The full cost of the 6 day course is £995.00.

The full cost of the 11 day course is £1500.00.
